My inspiration for the props we used in our Dr Seuss photo booth came mainly from this photo right here that I found on Pinterest

here. I found some webpages that had coloring pages for The Cat hat and the Lorax mustache.We colored one of each page with markers, red for the hat and yellow for the mustache. Then I also took a yellow/orange crayon to the yellow mustache. Then we just ran each photo through the copy machine for several clean images to make multiple props.
The Thing 2 hair and the Horton ears were just shaped with a pencil on cardboard (from an old box). Once we got the right shapes, we painted and outlines them with black. Since the hats and mustaches (and Thing 2 circle) were only paper, we glued them to cardboard and then cut out all of the props. My coworker cut some boards at his house for the sticks to put them on. They are thicker than paint sticks and really smooth. At first we just used masking tape to keep them on but once we got a hold of a staple gun, we punched a few of those in there for a good hold because the tape fell off and was just too flimsy.
These props were used in this room that we made into a photo booth inspired by the Lorax. Since then we have also made a portable photo booth out of a board about half the size of one of these walls. We did the same basic thing to create this portable booth as the steps we took for this room which are posted in my other how-to immediately before this one. We now take this board and all the props with us out into the community for market nights and special events. The props are now looking a little worn out and we're thinking of making new ones on hard foam board (like a science fair project board) and laminating them. But for now, the cardboard is working OK.
